Start with Why

When I read about Michael Jordan and his legacy, I often think “man, I could be like that one day.”

Actually I don’t.  I never think that.  My first thought when I get up is, “where are the chips?” Actually I think, how in the world does one person become so talented and driven to succeed that it leaves other people seem like they couldn’t care less?  And then I look for the chips.

Do you ever feel this way?  Have you found someone in your field that is so talented and has such an incredible drive to succeed that it makes it look like you’re nowhere near the starting line?  You might as well give up now, because there is no way you’ll catch up to them.

I can relate to this.

I often look at famous authors, professors, and speakers and think “how are these people able to find the time to do all that they do?”

But I know I shouldn’t stop there.

I then need to analyze how they do it.  How are they able to be so far above their peers that it makes them superstars among the stars?

Take some time researching what makes some people more successful and driven than others.  Why do some succeed where others who have tried seem to fail so fast?

Simon Sinek in his book “Start With Why” explains the golden circle is critical for companies and leaders that want to inspire their employees. It’s not enough to know your “what” and “how” – you have to start with why.

It begins with purpose.

What is your why?

Why do you do what you do?  Why do you want to pursue this current path you’re on?  Why is this so important to you?
