I love watching professional sports. Especially when it gets to be later in the season and teams are jockeying for the playoffs or seeding to get home field advantage. It’s been said that until the MLB All-Star game in mid-July, it’s way too early to tell who’s going to be playing baseball in October.
Through the magic of the “internets” I’ve recently been able to re-connect with my high school English teacher. As most of of my friends, students, and colleagues know, I am a high school dropout. I really didn’t impress too many of my teachers back then. In fact, I’m sure most of them wouldn’t even remember my name. I know I wouldn’t have if I were in their position. Out of sight, out of mind.

Have you heard of these summer reading programs for kids? They’re a really neat idea.
You get kids to read books over the summer and for every book they read, they get a free prize. Prizes range from free movie rentals to free pizza and $10 off your next oil change. My kids love that one.
